Heracleum sphondylium L.
Common Name: HOGWEED, EUROPEAN COW-PARSNIP
Coefficient of Conservatism: *
Coefficient of Wetness: 5
Wetness Index: UPL
Physiognomy: Ad P-Forb

A European species rarely established in old fields; collected by R. E. Gereau in Houghton Co. in 1982. This is generally a smaller species than H. maximum, but the distinctions between the two are subtle. Small plants of Heracleum sphondylium may not show the pinnate versus ternate distinction so clearly.
