Included in the Capparaceae in Michigan Flora.

1. Petals definitely notched (hence ± 2-lobed) at apex; stamens more than 6; stalk of fruit (not to be confused with long pedicel) very short or absent.

Polanisia

1. Petals not notched or lobed; stamens 6; stalk of fruit very long and slender.

2. Stem glandular-pubescent and with stipular spines; leaflets mostly 5–7.

Tarenaya

2. Stem glabrous or nearly so, spineless; leaflets 3.
